Before you start
Syphon output requires Studio access. Free Edition output is capped at 720p and its Syphon toggle is disabled. For the complete controls, see the Syphon and Output Mapping guide.
Resolution Options
- 1080p - 1920x1080 (Studio)
- 1440p - 2560x1440 (Studio)
- 8K - 7680x4320 (Paid plans only)
- MetalFX - Upscaling for performance
Display Modes
- Fill - Crops to fill entire screen
- Fit - Letterbox to maintain aspect
- Stretch - Distorts to fit screen
- HDR - Extended dynamic range (if supported)
External Display
Connect a second monitor and select it in Settings > Output. RenderWave will automatically detect connected displays.
Syphon Output
With Studio access, open Settings > Output > BROADCAST and turn on Syphon Output. Select your Syphon Server Name in the receiver. Preserve Resolution follows your render resolution and license cap; with it off, Syphon sends 1920x1080. Syphon sends the clean master frame and does not apply Output Mapping crop or rotation.
Syphon Workflow
Resolume / Arena
Drag a Syphon source layer onto a deck and pick your configured Syphon Server Name from the source dropdown. Composite into your show like any other clip.
MadMapper
Add a Material > Syphon source. RenderWave becomes a video texture you can project-map to surfaces, LED arrays, or DMX fixtures.
VDMX
Create a new media source and select Syphon. RenderWave shows in the source list — drop into any layer.
OBS Studio
Install the OBS Syphon plugin, add a Syphon Client source, and select your configured Syphon Server Name. Stream live VJ visuals to Twitch, YouTube, or any RTMP target.
